Jonathan Alderson is the Founder and Director of the Integrated Multi-Treatment Intervention for autism. He holds a Masters degree from Harvard University and an Honours BA in developmental and educational psychology from the University of Western Ontario. He spent a year at the Sorbonne University of Paris.

 

Jonathan gained insights into learning through an internship with the Harvard Family Research Project and his experience as the Curriculum Specialist Coordinator with Teach For America in Houston, Texas. He worked for eight years at the Autism Treatment Center of America in Massachussetts where he was Administrator of their Son-Rise Program and a senior family trainer, deepening his understanding of autism through over 1500 hours of one-on-one play-based therapy. He has trained over 3000 families, designing and directing home-based programs in the UK, Ireland, Holland, Spain, Australia, Israel and Mexico.

 

He served as Chair on the board of Drum Artz Canada, a board member of the Lane Montessori School for Autism, as a Trustee of the Awesome Foundation Toronto, and Executive Committee member at Toronto East General Hospital “Friends” Campaign. He currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the Seneca College Behavioural Sciences program and Advisory Board Co-Chair of the Young Professionals for Autism Speaks Canada. He is a contributor for HuffingtonPost.ca and the author of the book Challenging the Myths of Autism, honoured with a Mom’s Choice Gold Award, an American Non-Fiction Authors’ Association Silver award, and the 2012 International Book Award for Best Parent-Resource.
